Update plugins with a safety net
Safe Update Guard automatically creates a ZIP snapshot of the individual plugin files before updating. After the update, monitor the site and keep a clear operational log.
Features included
- snapshot files-only before updates performed one plugin at a time;
- SHA-256 checksum of the snapshot;
- health check on a URL of the same site;
- detection of HTTP errors and critical error signals;
- optional automatic rollback and manual recovery;
- retention configurable from 1 to 20 snapshots;
- preventive extraction and controlled replacement of the plugin folder.
Responsible use
The plugin does not save the database and does not replace a full backup. Automatic rollback can only occur when WordPress remains executable. Multiple updates, WordPress core, and the Safe Update Guard update itself are not automatically protected.
Requirements
WordPress 6.2+, PHP 8.0+ and PHP ZipArchive extension.

- Try installing on staging when the site handles orders or active users.
