Speed does not depend on a single plugin. It is the result of images, theme, fonts, scripts, hosting, cache and queries. Before optimizing, measure real pages: homepage, product, cart and article.
Start from the images
Use dimensions close to those displayed, modern formats when compatible, reasonable compression, and width/height attributes to avoid shifting. Don't upload a thousands-of-pixel cover to display on a card.
Cache and code
The page cache reduces server work for anonymous visitors; object cache and OPcache operate on different levels. Avoid combining multiple plugins that apply the same minification. Always check menu, wishlist, cart and consent after any changes.
Core Web Vitals
- LCP: optimize the main element above the fold.
- INP: reduce JavaScript and long post-click operations.
- CLS: reserve space for images, banners and dynamic components.
A repeatable procedure
- Record an initial measurement.
- Apply only one intervention category.
- Clear cache and measure again.
- Compare mobile and desktop.
- Only keep changes with verifiable benefit.
